Jayne is currently a CART and Broadcast captioner who does Independent Contracting. She is the owner of “Path to Captions” and “RV traveling with 6.” She grew up in South Central Minnesota but has lived in Texas, Iowa and now Missouri. Her previous work history is as a 911 dispatcher, Corrections Officer, served in the U.S. Army Military Police Corp., stay-at-home mother and then she was in the last class to graduate from Court Reporting School of St. Louis in 2016 before its closure. After Court Reporting school, she trained in captioning through a large captioning employer and now, remotely, provides real-time caption translation to the D/deaf and HOH community around the world for the last 5 + years.
Her role is to act as the ears of the client in the room and captions words and noises within the environment. She has expertise with multiple styles of platforms and subject areas that are wide-ranging from toddler to Post Doctorate level captioning needs in English, Math, Science, Biology, Chemistry, Social, Weather, Sports, Global related fields and more. Jayne is currently in the process of RCP-M certification with NVRA and loves to advocate for accessibility awareness. Her short-term future goals are to obtain a CVR as well.
She enjoys being a wife of 12 + years while traveling (43 states so far), minimalist living, homeschooling their 4 children (4-11yo), building course material and mentoring, reading the bible and devotions, sight-seeing, wildlife and landscapes and visiting National Parks around the U.S.
She believes she has found the perfect career and is embarking on the journey of sharing it with others.
